2dF QSO Redshift Survey

The survey is now under way

On the night of 7 November 1996, we used 2dF to observe the very first combined field of the QSO and galaxy surveys. With only \sim 180 fibres currently operational the field was configured to observe 110 galaxies and 66 QSO candidates with a few fibres left over for blank sky. The instrument is still in the commissioning phase, so these spectra were taken using an engineering grade CCD chip. The installation of the science grade CCD is expected to make significant improvements to the spectrograph's blue response.
